Ulrich Family Newsletter 2025

Brenda and Adam

Brenda and I celebrated our 38th anniversary in December. We didn’t get away like we normally do because we were preparing for Jackson’s wedding to Karla on Dec 20th. We did get away for an Alaskan Cruise in September on Princess, which was amazing (except for I sprained my ankle on the trip!)
We truly enjoyed watching our Seattle Mariners make a deep run in the playoffs this year, and can't wait to see the team this year. At this time we are looking forward to the Seahawks getting back to the superbowl! One more game to go!

Adam

I started with a new company (Dremio, datalake software) in 2023, and just celebrated my 2nd anniversary there. I manage a DevOps team that is mostly based in Portugal, and will be travelling there early 2026. I went back to school in 2021, after a 40 year absence, to finish my degree (I got a job writing software after my freshman year in college, and never went back). Now that the kids are all adults, I had spare time, and school was my choice. I graduated from BYU Idaho with a BS in software development in April 2024.
I was released from my calling as the ward clerk in July 2025 after 5 years. I have been called as the 2nd counselor in the Elders Quorum presidency. This is my 3rd time as a member of the EQP ☺️.
I got my ham radio license (Technician class) in 2024, and my call sign is KK7UOJ. I am still very much learning, but have been enjoying getting my station set up. I have my 15 ft UHF/VHF vertical antenna on a 10 meter mast, and I can make contacts with my 25W radio through the Seattle area. I've just started playing on 10 meters, and have made contacts using FT8 digital mode across the US.
I also won my fantasy football dynasty league championship in 2025! Looking forward to the ring and the belt headed my way this year.

Brenda

Brenda decided to go back to school in 2025, and is working towards her degree so that she can be a certified family counselor. Brenda was called as the Relief Society 2nd counselor in 2024. She works at the Seattle Temple every Tuesday morning. She still loves singing with the ward choir, and is very much looking forward to being a grandma!

Aaron and Sarah

Aaron and Sarah are now foster parents! They had their first placement in Jan 2026, an 11 day old preemie named Joshua. They moved from Boardman, OR (hot, central Oregon farming community) to Astoria, OR (mouth of the Columbia river) in 2024. They purchased a place on 6 acres, and have been working on getting it the way they like it. Aaron works for a small IT company that does work for small businesses in Astoria. Sarah works for a clinic as a PA-C that is part of the hospital system there.

Garrison and Megan

Garrison and Megan are pregnant with a girl, and she is due in March/April. Her name is Geneva. Garrison continues his career as a musician, and built a recording studio space in their home across town, so we don't see him every day like we used to when he was coming over here to use the studio. Megan graduated last year from nursing school, and has her BS in nursing, and works for the VA hospital.

Christian and Mira

Christian and Mira moved home from San Diego in November; Christian completed his 5 years of Marine Corps service and has landed a great job with his aviation electronics skills from the marine corps just a few miles from our home with a company that does calibration work to train airlines mechanics. They moved in to a condo in Redmond, 30 miles north of our home – even though his job is right by our home in Auburn - because Mira is going to school in Seattle. She is studying to be a surgical technician.

Rylan and Sarah

Rylan and Sarah had been living with us for the last 18 months since they got married. They moved in with Christian and Mira into the condo in Redmond early December. They both have jobs at Costco, and are trying to transfer to a Costco closer to their new home.

Jackson and Karla

Jackson returned from his mission in Colombia in January 2025. He started dating in April/May and found Karla. The wedding and reception were a lot of work, but I get to do the lighting for the reception, which I enjoy. They plan on moving to Idaho to go to school in a few months. Karla graduates from BYU Idaho in April with a degree in Marketing.
Jackson released an album as a wedding favor in December. You can listen to it / download it here. The first half of the album are all original songs.

Tori

Tori moved to Utah, and has been staying with her aunt and her grandmother there for the last 18 months. She works in her aunt's thrift clothing store shop in Logan, and is learning how to adult. She really enjoys being in Logan.
Her crochet work is simply amazing. Tori also paints a good amount and has been playing piano quite a bit recently too. Since she lives around a lot of family, there's always someone that needs help, whether it's a ride somewhere, or pet sit or help with the littles.

Music

Music is still a big part of what of the family experience. Both Garrison and Jackson continue to crank out music. You can search for Garrison Ulrich or Jackson Matthew on all major streaming services to find their music. With Jackson on his mission 2023-2025, and Tori moving to Utah, they don't quite get together as often as they used to.
Tori plays the bass and ukulele, Rylan the drums and guitar, Jackson and Garrison play the keyboards and guitar, with Garrison being the primary singer. Check out the video above.

Our Home

We still love our home here in the Seattle area that we bought in 1998, and do upgrades regularly.
